Oleg Khvostov is a Russian artist, born in St. Petersburg in 1972. Oleg started painting in 1990. After serving in the North Fleet from 1993 to 1995 he attended an art studio in St. Petersburg and was planning to study at the Academy of Arts, but finally changed his plans and chose to educate himself at home, in his studio and in exquisite St. Petersburg museums. In 1998 Oleg became part of a St. Petersburg radical art movement called The New Stupids Society taking part in over 50 exhibits and performances created by the group of artists. After two years in 2000 Oleg decided to concentrate on his own projects. During this period he created over 10 thousand self-portraits. In 2005-2006 Oleg collaborated with Marat Guelman, gallery owner and one of the most influential Russian contemporary art curators. The result was a number of installations - painted portraits on cardboard boxes, some of them were acquired by collectors and museums. From 1998 to 2010 Oleg`s works were part of numerous exhibits in galleries, museums (including State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, Moscow Museum of Modern Art), biennales and fairs in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vienna, Berlin, Tirana. In 2010 Oleg began his collaboration with gallery and art residence Gridchinhall, which resulted with a vast personal exhibition. At this time Oleg`s work was discovered by Moscow art critics and collectors, his paintings became part of famous private collections and institutional collections like Moscow Museum of Modern Art. The trendy St. Petersburg AL Gallery has just held and exhibit of his landscapes called "Lust". Art critics mark out his unique recognizable style, which Oleg has been developing throughout the years.

Today Oleg lives and works in St. Petersburg
