Biography

Bella Matveeva, artist, director.

Bella Matveeva was born in 1962 in Troitsk that is located in Chelyabinsky region.

She lives and works in St. Petersburg.

Bella Matveeva graduated from the College of fine art of Serov in Leningrad. Now she is professor of department of Art at the Academy of Art in St. Petersburg.

She is author of literaturecollection that is called “The letters to Bella”; the series of photos “Esthetics of classical brothel”. Bella Matveeva and Sergey Vikharev are authors of ballet “Leda and swan”.

Among the most important exhibitions are Biannual of contemporary art (1990, Leningrad); Painting and Petting (1991, Museum of revolution, Leningrad); Coldness and Beauty (1991, Muu ryn Sali, Helsinki, Finland); Les allumes (199, Nantes, France); Bella Matveeva (1992, Pelin Gallery, Helsinki, Finland); Mare Balticum (1993, Stockholm, Sweden);
